Grace in trial

According to Hebrews 12:3-11, trial and affliction are a part of the Christian life. Christ faced them, and every believer experiences them as a ‘sign’ of sonship. Here is a little prayer I wrote while reflecting on this truth early this morning.

Lord, thank you for affirming, through my suffering, that I am your son;

Help me endure trial through the grace you supply.

For just as my Saviour endured shame from wicked men,

You are teaching me to endure momentary pain.

Aside from the identification with Christ, it is designed to lead to my holiness.

Let me not miss the intended lesson,

Nor let me fail to look up to you as the One who supplies grace in the midst of trouble.

May my experience ultimately result in your glory and my holiness. Amen.
